Mike Allison was drafted by the Rangers and played the first six years in the NHL on Broadway, and he retired, in 1990, after three years in L.A. where he had the chance to play with Wayne Gretzky. His father once played for the Brandon Wheat Kings, and his brother, Dave, made it as far as the IHL.
Mike had the distinction of scoring in his first game with his first shot on goal, October 9, 1980. Two days later, against the Leafs, he registered his first, and, ironically, only career hat trick. He was later acquired by the Leafs for Walt Poddubny, but just over a year later, on December 14, 1987, Toronto sent him to Los Angeles for Sean McKenna.
